Cavity Wall Insulation
What is a Cavity-Wall ?
The wall of a house is constructed of two masonry (brick or block) walls, with a cavity (gap) of least 50mm between.
Do I have to Pay to the Insulations ?
No, Its totally free. No hidden Cost or labour cost. Its totally free
What is Cavity-Wall insulation ?
Cavity-Wall insulation is used to reduce heat loss through the Cavity-Wall by filling the space with an insulated material, creating quilt like effect around your home.
My House is Semi-Detached, how do they stop insulation going into my neighbour's Cavity ?
If your neighbour's house is not insulated, the installer will insert a cavity barrier at the oarty wall libe. This is usually a length of bristle brish. If the neighbour's house is going to be insulated at the same time, the cavity barrier will not be needed.
How do I know the walls are full ?
Each csvity wall system has a defined pattern of hole. This has been tested to ensure complete fill is achieved. Most systems have an automatic cut out, which activates when the adjacent wall area is full. There is tolerance in the injection pattern so that the material will flow past the next injection hole.
Will my house be warmer ?
Insulation dramatically reduces heat loss through the insulated walls, therefore you should find that your house holds it temperature for longer enabling you to turn your thermostat down.
Are there any maintanance or servicing requirements ?
No, not to the Cavity Wall insulation, but normal building maintanance is still required.
How long will the insulation last ?
Providing the material is left undisturbed, it is maintanance free and should last for the life of the property. This is according to the British Board Agreement (BBA).
The Installation Process
Step 01
A series of small holes, measuring 26mm, will be drilled through the mortar joints of your property's brickwork.
Step 02
If you have air bricks or air vent, the installer will ensure that they are sleeved to maintain their operation. Newer houeses have air bricks already sleeved but we will still need to check. For older houses we may need to remove and replace them all. If this is the case, we will discuss that with you.
Step 03
the insulation material is blown through a nozzle into your walls cavities.
Step 04
Once the cavities have been filled with the insulation material, our installer will carefully remortar the small holes, matching the existing mortar, as much as possible.
Step 05
On completion of the work all debris and dust will be removed from your propoert.
In most cases, Cavity-Wall insulation will take less than half a day to complete.
